Thelma Bernice Hentz, 95 year old Big Cabin resident, died Wednesday March 3, 2010 at Rosewood Terrace in Vinita. She was born November 21, 1914, in Big Cabin to Ernest Campbell and Maude (Lauchner) Campbell. Thelma was a graduate and former basketball player of Big Cabin High School. She was preceded in death by two husbands, John Brown who died in 1950 and Kenneth Hentz in 1985. Thelma loved God and attended Emmanuel Temple in Vinita. She was well known for her musical talents, along with the other Campbell sisters, she also liked doing ceramics, sewing, crafts, plants, flowers and doing things outdoors.
The family includes, her two daughters, Neeta Couch and husband Elmer of Ardmore, Rita Ballew and husband Jack of Big Cabin, a sister Pauline Lassiter of Tulsa, two grandchildren, Bobbi Young and Shanda Langley; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Traci Young and Kenzi Langley.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two husbands, two sons, Johnny Mac and William Keith Brown; granddaughter, Carla Couch in 1976; sisters, Stella Chambers, Martha Trundle, Della Harlan, Helen Haney, and Faye Borgstrom.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita.
The graveside service will be held Saturday March 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Big Cabin Cemetery, with Pastor Jerry Ogdon officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
