September 1904 interview notes by John E RANSOM, Buffalo NY: Interview with Tamer THAYER of Lockport. "My father was John RANSOM, he had no middle name, brother Eliakim was named for Eliakim FIELDS, a wealthy friend of the family in Ohio. I think grandfather AMES name was Roswell --not sure-- grandmother was Elizabeth MOSHER -- lived and mother was born somewhere in Connecticut. I have a newspaper notice of mother's death on 10 Aug. she was over 100 years and 4 months old. [That would be 10 Aug 1889 instead of 8 Sept 1882. --JER note]. Brothers Cyrus and John were born and died in CT. Elizabeth and the others must have been born in Ohio. Elioakim was born in Concord, 5 miles east of Painesville. He was the only one born there, and there father died and is buried. I can remember those two events distinctly.

We never lived in Burlington; father lived in Claridon until two years before he died. He built the first mill, salaratus <??> factory and distillery in Claridon."
