    Sykes Beckwith, 162 [number assigned by Paul Beckwith], born Frederick Co., Md.; en-
    listed in the Revolutionary Army in 1776; was wounded
    at the battle of Cowpens; died in Montgomery Co.,
    Md., 1822; license to marry second wife dated Rockville, Md.,
    January 26th, 1820; by his first wife, Kis-
    siah Adamson, whom he married January 26th, 1801;
    died 1816 ; he had the following children :

    Sykes Beckwith, Watson Beckwith, Ally Beckwith and Benedict Beckwith of
    Montgomery County

    Petitioners: Robert Smith 24 December 1791 had tract called “Beckwith’s Mill”,
    13 ¾ acres, out of warrant for 21 acres obtained by Leonard Belt, who assigned
    land to Robert Smith, 17 January 1791. Robert Smith assigned land to
    petitioners’ father, William Beckwith, deceased, died intestate. Granted to
    Petitioners Sykes Beckwith, Watson Beckwith, Ally Beckwith and Benedict
    Beckwith, 24 February 1796.
