    In the 1900 Census record for his son, Greenberry Beckwith, it states that his father was born in Maryland.

    I am not a member of this family, just providing some information. In the book "Gaithersburg, The Heart of Montgomery County" (Maryland) the genealogy section was written by Janet Thompson Manuel. Page 337 - "John A. Beckwith, son of Sykes and Keziah (Adamson) Beckwith, died in 1844. By Mont. Co. license dated 10 Mar 1834, he married Eliza Ann Ricketts. She was born ca 1824; they had 3 children: Maholda a.A., born ca. 1834, md. George W. Burriss; Greenberry Columbus, b. ca. 1836, md. 18 Mar 1873 at Laytonsville, Ruth Elizabeth Burriss, b. ca. 1843, d. 23 Nov 1894; John Waters, d. 3 Sep 1912, aged 71 years."

    "The John a. Beckwith family lived near Redland on land inherited from his grandfather, John Adamson."
