At Find-a-Grave, the memorial # 29542157 for Susannah's daughter Ruth has an interesting comment: Ruth died "Aged 21 yrs 5 mos 7 dys; daughter of Benjamin & Susannah Mairs Wamsley Arnold. Source: Jackson County Historical Society Journal" The website of Betty Briggs also has a note: "John House: Dr. Mairs died in 1841. A brother, Thomas Mairs, lived at the mouth of Service Fork. His wife, Louisa, died in 1862, and is buried at Sandyville. Susan, wife of Benjamin Arnold, a prominent citizen of the Sandyville vicinity for several years before the war, was a sister of the Mairs."

So has the middle initial of 'W' been a mis-reading all these years of an 'M'? Was her name Susannah Mairs Wamsley? She was sister to which of the Mairs? Surely not Thomas or even his brother, the Doctor; for Susannah's daughter, Louisa was married to Thomas.
