Susannah Ann Lamar was married to William House. They moved to Kentucky, as did her brother Mareen Tyler and Benoni Smith and sisters, Henrietta and Rachel and purchased land in Breckenridge County. William House purchased 160 acres of land from John Lewis for $658. In 1814, Susannah appointed her brother, Benoni S. Lamar to act as her "Power of Attorney" in settling the estate of her father, William Bishop Lamar. The record states the following: "Known all men by these presents that I, Susannah House, late Susannah Lamar of the County of Breckenridge and State of Kentucky, do hereby make, nominate, sonstitute and appoint my brother, Benoni S. Lamar, of the County of Frederick and State of Maryland, my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name and for me and to ask, demand, and receive of the executor of the estate of my deceased father, William B. Lamar, late of Frederic County and State of Maryland, all such sums of mney or property, which I may be entitled to receive from the estate of my deceased father, aforesaid, whether by deed or otherwise, and in care payment is refused, I hereby authorize and empower my said attorney to take any step or steps for the recovery of the same which I might or could do were I personally present to grant, rect and acquittal for payments made to him and I hereby ratify and confirm whatsoever my said attorney may lawfully do or could be done in the presences.
