"According to Alveretta Parker Shields, a descendant
'Keziah [(Hall) Meadows] said that her mother (Susan Hall) came over from England, leaving her family. The last time she ever saw her parents they were waving goodbye as the ship left port. They had been on their way for several days when a storm came up and the ship was headed back to England. The passengers could see the shore but the officers would not dock the ship. If they had, she said that she never would have left home again.' "

    Caution: Shield's tradition is unlikely.

[cos1776 Note: It is unlikely based on the sworn affidavits in the pension application of Mathias Horn (husband of Susan Hall), Joseph Proctor, and Edward Hall (brother of Susan Hall). It is also known that Susan Hall's siblings were born in Prince William County, VA, meaning that her parents were there, and that her brother Edward Hall brought "his father's family" to Ft. Boonesborough during the Fall of 1779. The only way Shield's tradition could be true is if Susan's parents went (?back?) to England sometime between the birth of their last known child, Micajah Hall, around 1771 and 1779. To date, no evidence has been found to support this.]
