In Albion, Wis., April 13th, 1861, of paralysis, Mrs. Weed, wife of Dea. James Weed, aged 67 years.
She had been a witness for Jesus more than fifty years. Her first connection with the church was with that in DeRuyter, N. Y. At the time her father, Jesse Rogers, settled on the Genesee River, in Allegany Co., N. Y., the 1st Alfred was the only Seventh-day Baptist Church in that part of the State. Of this church she was a member for a number of years.
When, in 1834, the Amity Church was organized, she was one of the number who constituted its membership. Her husband having chosen a home in Albion, Wis., when the settlement was first made, she a second time became one of the number to constitute a church at its organization.
Wherever she lived, through the whole period of her connection with the church, she was known as an humble Christian. As she approached dissolution, she cheerfully remarked, "I am going home; I feel that I am almost there."
