In Amity, [N. Y.] on the 29th ult., Jesse Rogers, in the 74th year of his age.
Mr. Rogers united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Waterford, Conn., more than forty years since, and remained a member of the denomination till his death. He lived several years in De Ruyter, and from there he was an early settler in the town where he died. His location was very favorable for the entertainment of travelers, to whom his door were always open.
He had for several years been gradually declining under the influence of consumption, but is dissolution was hastened on by a shock of Numb Palsy. He left a numerous circle of friends to mourn his loss; but the circumstances connected with his life and death, gave them satisfactory evidence that they need not mourn as those who mourn without hope.
