    SKAGGS
Stephen Skaggs was the son of Stephen Skaggs, Sr., who was born in Virginia. He was a soldier in the War of 1812 and was a Baptist Preacher. His wife's maiden name was Nancy Andrews (or Anders), and his father's name was James Skaggs, a native of Virginia, who came to Kentucky about the time Daniel Boone did. The Skaggses are said to be of Danish Origin and came to Northumbria, England, in the eighth or ninth century, and their descendants afterward emigrated to Scotland, Ireland, and later to the United States.
