== Biography ==The birth of Stephen Cade, son of Joseph and Sary, was recorded at Groton, Massachusetts, on 16 June 1701.[1] He was the sixth child of his parents, and the last of their children to be born at Groton. Not long after Stephen's birth, the family removed to Killingly, Connecticut.[2] Stephen's father, Joseph Cady, bought 150 acres of land in Aspinock (later called Killingly and now Putnam), Connecticut, on 20 January 1703 and disposed of his real estate in Groton on 22 February 1702/3.[3] Stephen Cady resided at Killingly during the remainder of his life. On 23 September 1742 he bought 113 acres of land in Killingly from his father and on 4 July 1759 he bought two tracts of land from Thomas Sumner. Allen describes him as "a man of means and prosperous" and notes that the Register of Deeds identifies him as a mason. Stephen Cady was married at Killingly (in the Old Congregational Church at North Killingly, now in Putnam, Connecticut) on 20 March 1723[4] to Abigail Lee, daughter of Samuel and Mary Lee of Killingly.[5] Their children, all born at Killingly, were:[5]
