Facts and Events
STANLEY was born at Mitchells Island and had his schooling at Upper Lansdowne. He married Elsie Christenson in 1921 and they farmed at Upper Lansdowne. Stan also worked for some time as a baker being taught the trade by “Bun” Hair. He later moved to Lansdowne where he built a sawmill cutting his own timber for milling. He was also a builder, building many homes as well as the pavilion at Lansdowne Park. He later diversified his milling activities and started making broom handles for the Morpeth and Tinonee broom factories. He was highly skilled mechanically with an inventive turn of mind - a charitable man with many God given talents. He died at the age of 69 on 18.6.1968 and Elsie died 11.8.1988. They are buried at Lansdowne. |
