Stan also worked for some time as a baker being taught the trade by “Bun” Hair. He later moved to Lansdowne where he built a sawmill cutting his own timber for milling. He was also a builder, building many homes as well as the pavilion at Lansdowne Park. He later diversified his milling activities and started making broom handles for the Morpeth and Tinonee broom factories.
