Therefore Spencer sold off the dairy cows and went to beef cattle - I remember as Polled Hereford's. 10 Apr 1943 - Auctioned 61 dairy cows and heifers, 1 bull, 4 work horses, wagon, plows 1943 became the Chairman of Saratoga County Board of Supervisors (1 yr) - pay for chairman was$250 in additian to $2500 for being a supervisor 02 Sep 1945 Japanese sign document of surrender on battleship in Tokyo bay 1946 Chairman of Law and Finance Committee of board of supervisors 1947 Chairman of County Roads Committee of board of supersivors, Farm Bureau representative 7 Mar 1947 - resigned as Supervisor of the Town of Halfmoon 10 Mar 1947 - appointed as County Auditor - pay $2600 per year- My Mom (Laura Bitter) recalls the following: As County Auditer, he had an office is Saratoga Springs (31 Woodlawn Ave.) which he went to as needed. The job included a secretary who kept the office open regular hours. Each year at Christmastime they would exchange gifts. The secretary would invariably get hime a necktie, used and not too clean.
