SIMEON RIZER - At his home, this place, Monday Mar 21, Mr. Simeon Rizer, aged 62yrs. He had been ill several months. Last autumn he sustained an injury of one of his legs, which he neglected. One morning several weeks ago, he arose about 4am to renew the fire. In doing so the injured leg broke. All that surgical skill could do to get the parts reunited was done, but vainly. He steadily declined & died as stated. His trouble - called by the surgeons oster-sarcoma- cancerous bone, is a rare one. He was a soldier of the civil war, on the Union side. The funeral took place Wed in the M.E.Church, South, Rev. G.C.Harris, of the Eckhard M.E.Church, officiating. [ FMJ 3-26-1898 p.2] NOTE: FMJ is the Frostburg Mining Journal
