Confusion with Cousin
Simeon C. is sometimes confused for his elder cousin and name sake, Simeon Zelotus Bailey (1835-1908). Both were born in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Both served in the American Civil War. However, Simeon Zelotus served only with a Pennsylvanian infantry; Company B, 18th Regiment. Simeon C. is believed to have served under a Pennsylvanian infantry for a time, before relocating and transferring his service for the remainder of the Civil War under Iowan infantry; Company H, 9th Regiment. Simeon Zelotus resided in Pennsylvania most of his life, with the exceptions of Holt, Iowa and Clymer, New York. Simeon C. resided in a number of locations post war-service; while migrating across the Midwest and Great Plains. Following his initial move to Iowa from Pennsylvania, he resided additionally within Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma before retracting to Iowa.

Some of the places i have my great grandfather Simeon living are:
Castila, Alamakee County, Iowa; Granite, Phillips County, Kansas.
Buffalo, Dallas County, Missouri; Harrison, Boone County, Arkansas and
Vinton, Benton County, Iowa. I have some papers on Simeon and some of
the handwritting is hard to make out. I have no info on any of his
children, except my grandfather Frank and that is very little. I do have
copy of deed of a Fred A. Bailey and his wife Ella R. Bailey of Harrison
County, Mo. but since i don't know who any of them married i'm not sure
if this is my line but could be. Will have to start posting what i get
