1850 census Greenwood, Crawford Co, PA family 61 page 446 (cd-db) Eli 40 PA farmer 800 Elizabeth 36 PA Alexander 18 PA Elizabeth 17 PA Gravely 15 PA Daniel 11 PA William 9 PA Wilson 9 PA Eli 7 PA Sylester 2 PA = Note: In his will, located in the Crawford Co., PA. Courthouse, Eli requested to be buried in the "Anderson Graveyard". His wishes were probably carried out, but no stone can be found. After checking out this cemetery in July 1995 the following grave stones were located: William Findlay, Rebecca wife of William Findlay, a stone next to Rebecca but was laying face down and unreadable. Next to this stone was that of Hannah - wife of Gravener Bailey who died March 30, 1882, aged 65 yrs, 6 mo's and 7 days. There was 12 ft. of empty space in this row from Hannah to the next stone which was sandstone and most of its face missing. After digging up the sod in front of this stone the rest of it was found. When the pieces were all put together it read: Jessee son of Gravener & E. Bailey died May 9, 1811 or 1814, that part of the date being worn away. Next to Jesse was William Bailey and all it read was "Co. A, 183 PA Inf." The compiler of these notes believe that Eli is probably buried within the empty 12 ft. mention above. In Eli's will, he also makes mention of his "youngest" son Jessie and his "oldest" son Alexander, Daughter, Elizabeth, son Gravener and sons Daniel, William, Wilson, Eli, Simme, Sylvester. =Per ; R8459@@aol.com (ancestry online Nov 2003)
