According to his WW1 draft card registration he was living at 309-5th ave. no. in SSP. South St. Paul Daily Reporter 4 March 1935: Ardent Sports Enthusiast Was Umpire Shirley Douglas Curry, 49 years old, widely known in live stock circles and for many years associated with commission firms in the market, died Sunday afternoon at this home, Fifth Ave North, after an illness of several months and being confined to his bed for three weeks. Mr. Curry, from boyhood was an ardent sports enthusiast and in recent years was one of the outstanding baseball umpires in the Northwest Umpire's League. He was on hand for all the baseball and kittenball games in the city. Mr. Curry was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, a member of the First Methodist Church and he served for four years on the South St. Paul Board of Education. |
