Facts and Events
The Van Deusen line is fairly well documented in Source:Van Deusen, Albert Harrison. Van Deursen Family. New York: Frank Allaben Genealogical Company, c1912. (Digital accessed on Ancestry.com 16 Jan 2012.) This work, which is far better sourced than most genealogies of the time period, takes this line back the immigrant, Abraham Pietersen (van Deursen) of Haarlem, Netherlands. The author of the above work, claims that the line goes back to the 12th century in Brabant. In 1860, she is enumerated as "Silvia", living with children and her parents in West Stockbridge, but not her husband (are they divorced by now?). In 1870, she is in Westfield, MA, with her two youngest children, and her mother. In 1880, Selina is living with her son and daughter in law in NYC, “D” divorced. In 1900, she is living with her daughter and son-in-law in Baltimore, MD “single” References
