There is no firm documentation to tell us of Sarah's life, but circumstantial evidence has led Mary M. Bell to conclude that she was the wife of James Wells. I concur. Born in 1747, James was the youngest brother of Francis and Joseph.

One of the five sons of James Wells and his first wife was named Robert Wells. This first wife, probably Sarah Tevis, died before 29 Aug 1791, when he remarried in Frederick County. He subsequently followed his sons to Kentucky, where he left a will.
