According to an IGI record, Sarah K. Shankland married George R. Allen on 22 Sept 1869 in Moniteau Co., Missouri. According to a WorldConnect database, George Robert Allen was the son of Thomas Loving Allen and Mary Ann Dunham of Tennessee. In the 1880 census for Pilot Grove, Moniteau Co., Missouri, G. R. Allen is a farmer, age 27 from Missouri (parents Tennessee); wife Sarah is 23 from Missouri (parents North Carolina)?; and son Wm. E. is 2 born Missouri. {Page 406D} In the 1900 census for Henry Co., Missouri, [page difficult to read] G. R. Allen is 49, born Feb 1851 in Missouri (parents Virginia), married 30 years, nurseryman; wife Sarah is (44?), b. Mar 1856 Missouri (parents Virginia), (8 of 10?) children living. The children are Letha (18?), Esma (12?), Ira (9?), daughter Clarence (8?); [next page] son Ormel 7, born Dec 1892; and Fay 3, b. Feb 1897 -- both born Missouri, parents Missouri. {ed 78, sh 4a, p. 64 a & b} "Allen, Sarah Shankland - 1856 - 1902. Clinton MO - Died, at her home on East Green St., near Eighth, Mrs. Geo. R. Allen, at 1 a.m. Monday, January 13, 1902. After a short service at the house, the body was taken to Bethlehem Baptist Church, five miles southeast of Clinton, where, at 11 o'clock, the sermon was preached by Rev. True of Clinton. Mrs. Allen was a sister of Dr. Shankland of Clinton and was born in Moniteau County, Mo. March 2, 1856. In 1869 she was married to Geo. R. Allen. About 18 years ago they moved to Henry County and they lived on a farm near Coal, moving to Clinton three years ago. She has been in poor health, especially the last nine months. For five weeks, she was confined to her bed, but the day before her death, she seemed unusually well. She leaves 8 living children, the oldest, Mrs. Inloe, near Alberta; the youngest a girl of 3 years.
