Sarah Harry was baptised on 5th June 1791 at St Ive in eastern Cornwall, daughter of Sarah Harry, formerly Grubb, and her husband Robert Harry, a labourer. Sarah was the fifth of the couple's eight children. Some time between 1797 and 1800 the family left St Ive and moved ten miles south to the town of Saltash.

Sarah was married on 20th May 1811, aged about 20, to a tailor named Samuel Rogers. They married on the opposite side of the River Tamar to Saltash at Stoke Damerel in Devon, which was the parish which covered the town of Plymouth Dock (later renamed Devonport). After their marriage they moved to Quethiock in Cornwall, which was where Samuel had been born and was also very close to Sarah's native St Ive. At Quethiock they appear to have had at least six children. Both the 1841 and 1851 censuses find Sarah and Samuel living in Quethiock with their children.

Samuel died in 1856. Sarah appears in both the 1861 and 1871 censuses living alone in Quethiock and described as a pauper. She died in the nearby town of Liskeard in 1877, aged 86, and was buried back at Quethiock where she had lived most of her adult life.
