Married life
On 9 August 1843 at 25 years old Samuel Zorge, a 31 years old servant in the Buitengasthuis (a home for lepracy) in Haarlem, married Anne Theodore Elisabeth Mentzel. At the date of her marriage he lived at de Achter Nieuwegracht in Haarlem. Fo this marriage both have shown their birth certificates and Samuel Zorge has shown his certificate that he has fulfilled his duties for the National Militia. Witnesses to this marriage were:
1. Christiaan Frederik Westmulder, 55, without occupation, living at the Spaarnwoudestraat in Haarlem, acquaintance of the groom;
2. Gerrit Janssen, 26, occupation: sergeant in teh army, living at the Koudenhorn army base in Haarlem, acquaintance of the groom;

The Achter Nieuwe Gracht was a street at a canal in Haarlem that was later filled in and renamed to Parklaan [3].
Prior to being married their first child, Franciscus Anthonius Marinus Zorge (21 Feb 1843 in Haarlem), was born. In his birth certificate [4] it can be seen that the occupation of Anne Theodore Elisabeth Mentzel was that of a worker and she lived at the Achter Nieuwe Gracht in Haarlem. In the birth certificate Samuel Zorge was the one that declared the birth of his son and recognized him as his son and that of Anne Theodore Elisabeth Mentzel.
On 15 November 1844 their second child was born, a daughter named Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge (Haarlem) [5]. At the declaration of this birth the father of Anne Theodore Elisabeth Mentzel, Franciscus Xaverius Mentzel, at that time living in the Rozelaantje in Haarlem, was present.
Next, we find Samuel Zorge, together with his family, in the census records of Amsterdam 1853-1863 [6]. Here he lived in the basement of Utrechtsche Dwarsstraat 233:

We also find a census record from 1851-1853, also at the Utrechtsche Dwarsstraat 233 [7]. The registration is the same with the exception that the occupation of Samuel Zorge is registered as "warden third class in the hospital" and the arrival date is 14 December 1846.
