A witness to her birth was Franciscus Xaverius Mentzel, at that time 58 years old, living in the Rozelaantje in Haarlem.

Moving with family

Next, we find Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge, together with her family, in the census records of Amsterdam 1853-1863 [2]. Here she lived in the basement of Utrechtsche Dwarsstraat 233:
1. Samuel Zorge, born 18 November 1811 in Dreischor, married, Nederlands Hervormd, occupation: employee at the hospital, arrived in 1846, died on 17 January 1856;
2. Anne Theodore Elisabeth Mentzel, born 12 May 1818 in Gent, married, Roman Catholic, no occupation, arrived in 1846;

4. Anna Maria Francisca Zorge, born 15 November 1844 in Haarlem, unmarried, Roman Catholic, no occupation, arrived in 1846;
We also find a census record from 1851-1853, also at the Utrechtsche Dwarsstraat 233 [3]. The registration is the same with the exception that the occupation of Samuel Zorge is registered as "warden third class in the hospital" and the arrival date is 14 December 1846.

Marriage

On 12 August 1868 in Amsterdam Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge married Gerardus Johannes Sluijter, son of Jan Sluijter and Anna Maria Wolfhagen [4]. At the time of his marriage Gerardus Johannes Sluijter was 22 years old and had an occupation as smith. Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge was 23 years old at that time. Witnesses to this marriage were:
1. Reinier Johannes Sluijter, brother of Gerardus Johannes Sluijter, modelmaker, 30 years old;
2. Franciscus Anthonius Martinus Zorge, brother of Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge, shoemaker, 25 years old;
3. Pieter Clodius, clothing maker, 38 years old;
4. Johannes Engelbertus Mentzel, uncle of Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge, 30 years old, soldier.

We find several death registrations of children from this marriage:
1. 16 November 1882, Gerardus Johannes Sluijter, 1 year old, [5];
2. 6 September 1884, Reinier Johannes Gerardus Sluijter, 7 weeks old [6];

In addition we find a marriage certificate on one of their daughters [7]:
Anna Maria Elisabeth Sluijter. At 20 years old she married on 2 January 1890 in Amsterdam to Jacobus Gerardus Steenman, a 28 year old metal turner. The parents of Jacobus Gerardus Steenman were Johannes Christiaan Steenman and Alida Maria Christina Weller. This means that Ana Maria Elisabeth Sluijter had to be born in 1870.

On 18 May 1899 [8] Hendrina Maria Sluijter married to Johannes Engelbertus Fredericus Terwijn, a 22 year old electricien from Amsterdam. His parents were Frederik Terwijn and Johanna Maria Alferink. She was a 23 year old daughter of Gerardus Johannes Sluijter and Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge. This means she was born approximately 1876.

Death

We find the death certificate of Johanna Maria Francisca Zorge on 29 January 1885 at 3:30 a.m. in their house in the achter Reestenburgerstraat in Nieuwer-Amstel [9]. She was 41 years old.
