    Samuel Rich m. (1) Salem 29 Nov 1705 Hannah Morse, m. (2) Salem 16 May 1717 Elizabeth Tompkins, lived at Sutton, and died 1729. He is "not known to have been related" to various other early Rich's of New England, particularly Richard Rich of Cape Cod.

    "2. Samuel2 Rich (Nicholas1), was at Mendon, Mass., before 1704, constable there in 1718. Bellingham was formed from parts of Dedham, Mendon and Wrentham, in 1719, and Samuel Rich was one of the petitioners. Samuel Rich of Bellingham and Richard Waters of Salem bought 1000 acres in Sutton, Mass., 8 Dec. 1720. In a deed at Bellingham, 21 Dec. 1720, he was called 'house carpenter.' He died at Sutton, and the widow, Elizabeth, was appointed admr. 31 Mar. 1729 {N. E. Reg. 83-261)."
