Samuel Meinhard came to the U.S.A. in 1853.

On March 24, 1859, Samuel Meinhard sailed from the Port of New York to Savannah, Georgia, on the steamship Alabama.

In 1870, Samuel Meinhard, his wife, Lena, and his family were living in Savannah, Georgia. Also living with them was 26 year old Abraham Meinhard, believed to be Samuel's brother.

In 1880, Samuel Meinhard, his wife, Lena, and his family were living in New York City. Samuel's occupation was given as a fruit importer.

In 1888, Samuel Meinhard was living in Savannah, Georgia, managing Meinhard and Company, while his brothers lived in New York City. He resided on Abercorn Street, near the intersection with Gordon Street.

The business was located at 129 & 131 Broughton Street, Savannah.

In 1900, Samuel Meinhard, his wife, Lena, and family are once again living in Savannah, Georgia, on Abercorn Street. With the family is his married daughter, Bessie and her husband, Leon Ferst.
