I also bequeath to my sons Samuel C. Johnson and Andrew Johnson my home & farm including the twenty acres of timberland by each - - - - - them paying six hundred dollars to Margaret Glover within twelve months after the death of my wife Sarah.
And I hereby ordain my son Samuel C. Johnson executor of this my last will and Testament in witness whereof I George Johnson the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and fifty six . . .

"Samuel G. Johnson, who resided 2 miles north of Gessie, this county, died one week ago last Monday, March 4, 1889, aged 73 years. He was the father of ex-Superintendent A.J. Johnson, and had been on the sick bed of affliction for the last 13 months.

He was a man whom everybody respected, and had been an elder in the Baptist Church for 40 years. In his death the community loses a good citizen, the church an exemplary Christian and the children a kind and affectionate father." - Newport Hoosier State, Wednesday, March 13, 1889 (Obituary provided by Carolyn Schwab)

1. To my wife Nancy T. Johnson all my real and personal property as long as she remains my widow. If she ceases to be my widow or dies, to my children - George Johnson, Mariah Johnson Elliott, John R. Johnson, Andrew J. Johnson, Mary E. Johnson, and Lewis H. Johnson - share and share alike.
2. I have made advancements to my children that are recorded in a notebook. This should be deducted from their share.
3. I appoint my wife Nancy T. Johnson Executor.
