On the 1850 census we see Samuel, age 38, a farmer in Marion, Hocking Co., Oh. They have with them, John H., age 2 [p 861 fam #248/256] After Isabelle's death, in 1855 according to family records, he married (2) Mary Ann Webb 17 Mar 1859.[LDS-IGI] The 1860 census shows Samuel Illes, age 47 , a farmer in Falls Twp, Hocking Co., Oh., with wife Mary Ann, age 34. With him are John H., 12; Hester Ann, 10; Isabel, 7; Jeremiah, 6/12; and Daniel, 7. Because Daniel is listed last , it is this author's conclusion he is probably Mary Ann's son from a previous marriage, and most probably John, Hester, and Isabel, are Isabelle's children.[p 113 fam #423/425] In a manuscript of Hocking Co., Cemeteries, Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Marion Twp., we find "Jeremiah son of Samuel and M.A. Iles, died 26 Oct 1879, age 19 yr., 9 mo, 7 days. This gives us a birth date of 19 Jan 1860 for him. LDS-I GI also gives a marriage for Samuel Iles to Susan Griffin, 10 Sept 1865. Children of these last two marriages are NOT Rittgers Descendants. In the estate of Jacob Rittgers, 1880, we see named John H. Iles and "Esther" Mason, children of "Isabella Iles a deceased daughter, and the only surviving heirs of the deceased daughter residing in Polk Co. [Ia.]"[Abstract 62638]
