This Samuel Gill was the Administrator of John Gill's estate in 1838 in Pickaway Co. I found newspaper clippings of quite a tale about the sons of Samuel in Missouri/Iowa (The Holt County Sentinel, March 28 and December 5, 1873). They became livestock brokers. Would contract to take cattle and hogs to Chicago to sell them. The father would be in Chicago to meet the shipments (I assume via train) and make the sale, then send the money to Levi and John so that the ranchers could be paid. They did this for several years, and suddenly embezzled the money sent to them by their father, and disappeared. They were found in California, and arrested. But they continued living in California (for the 1880 census and beyond).
