Samuel FENIMORE was born in 1755 in , Burlington, New Jersey. He served in the military on 4 Nov 1775 in , New Jersey. Samuel was one of the first to volunteer his services following the Battle of Bunker Hill when the Contenental Congress ordered New Jersey to raise four regiments for the Revolutionary War. He enlisted on 4 Nov 1775. Samual served on the rolls of the 2nd Battalion of NJ until 15 Jan 1776. In Feb 1776 Israel Shreve was named commanding officer of the Battallion. The Fenimores of Burlington served in his battalion and later in his regiment. His regiment was part of Maxwells Brigade and was with Washington im many of the most important battles of the Revulutionary War. Samuel was a captain and served at "mount Washington (Fort Washington, NY) in Sep and Oct 1776 and was in the Battle of White Plains on Occt 28. Samuel joined General Washington at the Battle of Trenton on 26 Dec 1776 as well as the battle of Princeton on 3 Jan 1777. Samuels Troop was the only Cavalry in the service of Gen. Lafayette and was on the committe with General Washington to recieve Lafayette when he arrived in America. He died in 1829 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Parents: Thomas FENIMORE and Mary HARKER .
