See Hancock Co., OH Sep 16, 1850 Census roll 256a, pg. 400 where Samuel is listed as age 25 (actually 27 according to other data), farmer, born PA with $800 property value, with Rachel, 21, born OH, children Eliz,1 and Jacob 5/12. There was another Samuel Braught and Rachel (Thrap) of Putnam Co., OH about the same time and they obviously lived very near to each other. 1880 Census Humboldt, Allen, KS shows Florence b. abt 1859 in IL, dau of Sam'l and Rachel Braught See US Census 1900 for Humbolt Tsp, KS 1900 showing Samuel Braucht, age 76 born Feb. 1824 at PA. and wife Nancy, 60, born Feb. 1840 at IL. His obituary in the Humbolt (KS) Union newspaper reports that he was born In Lancaster, PA Feb. 17, 1823 and died at the home of his grandson, J. M Spence of Humbold Jan. 25, 1916 at age 92, 11 mo., 18 days. At age one he moved with his parents David and Mary to Dauphin County, PA and at 7 they moved to Cumberland Co., three miles from Harrisburg. In 1833 his father took the family in wagons to Hancock County, OH. Jan 10, 1847 he married Rachel Byel, and in 1856 they moved to near Aledo, IL. IN 1870 they moved to Allen County, KS. They reared a family of five children; one dying in infancy. The wife died Mary 1897 and thereafter Samuel made his home with his grandson Mr. Spence. At the funeral were son Jacob Braucht, a grandson, Don Spence, a granddaughter and husband, Mrs. and Mrs. C. C. Barr of Aledo, IL. This data makes it logical to suspect that his daughter Florence married J.M. Spence and lived at Humbolt, KS. Florence died in 1888 and the obituary infers that Samuel and J. M. Spence were both widowers living together. FTM CD on Ohio Marriage Index 1789-1850 is shown marriage of Samuel Braucht and Rachel Byal on 10 Jun. 1847 at Hancock Co., OH recorded in LDS film # 1299131 (other Braucht marriages are shown on that same LDS film). 1850 Census for Ohio, Hancock Co., Blanchard Twp. (roll 432-723, pg. 799; house 2, family 2, reported 16th Sep) shows Samuel Brqucht 26, farmer with 800, born in PA, wife Rachel, 21, born in OH; children Elisabeth, 1 and Jacob, 5/12; all but the father born in OH. The taker checked that all were married within the year (error).
