Facts and Events
See LDS Ancestral files V4.10 showing David Milton Braucht, son of Jacob Braucht and Mary Ann Spreacher. Bindnagle Records by Poorman reports a David PRACHT, son of David and Mary Pracht, born 21 May 1815 and baptised 8 July 1815. However, that data (found 19 Nov 1992) reflects birth date and place (29 Jan 1856 at Joy, IL) in contrast (could be recording error), plus listing two different wives (#1= Amelia Anderson, #2=Olive Marie Kiddo). Obviously not this David with those wives. Data from Dan Gerber asserts that he was buried at Aledo Cem. in Wisner, NE. (another contrast: Aledo, Mercer Co. IL; wrong David for dates, etc.). I think Bindnagle data likely to be correct. See Mercer Co., IL gravestone photo taken 30 May 2000 at original section A, lot 164, grave 3 or 7; cemetery card shows b. 5-21-1815, d. 2-18-1898. So many David Braucht/Braught/Brought, etc. that it is really necessary to carefully document which data belongs where for any of the David data. I will endeavor to study these in more detail, but at present I merely leave this caution. In LDS film 317410 there is 19 Apr. 1838 marriage record of David Braught and Joanna Brown at Hancock Co., OH (submitted by Mary Lou Dickey Allen, Rt. 1 Box 62, Quincey, WA 98848; submission date not shown, and I did not attempt to contact them). LDS film 1299131 shows David Braught married to Joanna Brown 19 Apr. 1838 at Hancock Co., OH (found in FTM CD on OH Marriage Index 1789-1850 1850 OH Census, Hancock Co., Blanchard Twp, pg.799 on roll 432-692) Shows David Braucht, 26 Farmer with 1200 acres, Born in PA with wife Joannah, 32, born PA and all children born in OH; Mary, 11; Nancy, 7; George, 4; and Phebe, 1. It was checked that they married in yr., but that obviously does not make sense here. Others on this page show that very young children also married in the year; so it appears the census taker had some different interpretation of recording this column. 1200 acres indicates major property value. That record show this family living next door to the family of Samuel and Rachel Braucht; then Heckerman families. References
