- ↑ The Clark County, Ohio History states that Samuel came from Kentucky, entered land in Section 13 about 1811. He donated land for Bush Grove Methodist Episcopal Church, June 20, 1840 and the Boston Graveyard in Section 27, on the Valley Pike was one of the earliest in the township - an old burial place in Section 10 close to Donnelsville, now known as the Brandenburg Graveyard. Samuel had land granted to him by President James Monroe on May 3, 1815; this land ws in Section 30, Twp 3, Range 9 (now Pike Twp). In the settlement of Samuel's estate there was a large sale; also he held many notes which included names of his children.
