Ruth P. Durrence, 91, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. She was a lifelong native of Tattnall County, a farmer, a homemaker, and a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcus L. Durrence, and a grandson, Steve Durrence. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Claudette Haddock and Marklyn and McCoy Durrence, all of Jacksonville, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Marquette and Joan Durrence of Glennville and Durwood C. and Lavon Durrence of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Anna Lou Mattox of Glennville; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 29, at Harmony United Methodist Church, with the Rev. G. Truett Leveritt officiating. Burial was in Love’s Chapel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jason Durrence, Allen Derbecker, Calvin Durrence, Robbie Holland, Derick Parks, and Bobby Sands. Remembrances can be made to Harmony United Methodist Church, P.O.
