    The Will and Testament of Ruth Jordan
    I Ruth Jordan in the Parish of Horley in the County of Surrey do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament First I wish to be buried in a plain Christian like manner and my remains to be inclosed in a lead coffin and my grave to be steined with bricks the expense of which together with all doctors bills and other expences to be paid out of my Estate the remainder of which I bequeath as follows First I bequeath to Mrs Susanna wife of Henry Henley of Warnham Sussex the sum of Ten pounds also my foot stool & work box Second I bequeath to my Sister Frusanna Morley the sum of Twenty pounds Thirdly I bequeath to my Sister Sarah Jordan the whole of my articles in Silver plate Fourthly I bequeath to my brother Leonard Thomas Jordan and my Sister Sarah Jordan the remaining part of my money furniture and clothes in equal shares to be disposed of as they think proper Lastly I appoint my brother Leonard Thomas Jordan and my Sister Sarah Jordan as my Executor and Executrix of this my Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of February one thousand eight hundred and fifty two - Signed sealed and declared by the said Ruth Jordan as her last Will and Testament we in her presence and the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names - the mark of Ruth Jordan X (L.S.) - Witness - Richard Martin - William Weston

    Appeared Personally William Weston of Horley in the County of Surrey Carpenter and made oath that he is one of the subscribed witnesses of the due execution of the last Will and Testament of Ruth Jordan late of the Parish of Horley in the County of Surrey Spinster deceased which said Will bears date the twenty first day of February in the present year One thousand eight hundred and fifty two and is now hereto annexed And he further made oath that on the said twenty first day of February in the said present year the said Testatrix duly executed her said Will by making her mark or cross at the foot or end of the same in manner as now appears thereon in the presence of this Deponent and of Richard Martin the other subscribed witness to the said Will both of whom were present at the same time and that the said Richard Martin and he this Deponent thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other And the deponent having now inspected the said Will and having observed the words "and other expences" which appear interlined therein in the first page of the same and also the word "furniture" which appears written upon an erasure in the second line from the bottom of the said first page of the same he further made oath that the said words "and other expences" were so written and interlined in the said Will and that the said word "furniture" was so written upon an erasure therein as the same now respectively appear previously to the aforesaid execution of the said Will by the said Testatrix - William Weston - On the 16th day of April 1852 the said William Weston was duly sworn to the truth of the aforegoing Affidavit - Before me - W.C. Curteis Surro[gate] - Prest. N.B. Engleheart Notary Public

    Proved at London 24th April 1852 before the Worshipful William Calverly Curteis Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Leonard Thomas Jordan the brother and Sarah Jordan Spinster the Sister the Executors to whom Adm[inistrati]on was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
