    Mr. Russell C. Smith, 86, of Burlington died at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Great River Medical Center.

    Born July 8, 1926 in Albia, he was the son of Clarence and Fern Stewart Smith. On February 14, 1948 he married Mary Clark at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. They divorced on February 7, 1964. He then married Imogene Heap on December 2, 1971 and they divorced June 27, 1972. He then married Margie Lyons on October 6, 1984 and they divorced on November 10, 1986.

    Mr. Smith was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Refrigeration School in Chicago for two years. He was an Army veteran serving with the 76th and 30th Infantry.

    Mr. Smith worked at I.A.A.P. for 25 years with the Atomic Energy Commission as a foreman and 12 ½ years in division A as supervisor. He retired in January 1987 from the Produce Dept. at Hy-Vee.

    Mr. Smith was a member of First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ where he sang in the church choir for many years and the American Legion. He enjoyed sports, working in his yard and traveling around the world, which he accomplished twice.

    Survivors include three daughters, Vicki (Larry) Stout of Burlington, Teresa (James) Zaiser of West Branch and Sue Long of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bruce Smith; three brothers, Donald, Robert and Harold Smith and one sister, Virginia Schnicker.

    The graveside memorial funeral service and inurnment for Mr. Smith will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20th, at Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Rev. David Yonker will officiate.

    A memorial has been established for First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ.

    According to Mr. Smith's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and Burlington Wilbert Crematory.
