Russell was a very successful farmer. At one time he raised peppermint and onions. His death, on July 7, 1939, was a blow to everyone who knew him. He had taken some stock to Chicago to sell. When walking across Halsted Street, he was struck by a truck and instantly killed. Grace died on February 13, 1960, from injuries in an automobile accident. DEATH: Obituary: Russell King, 45, prominent stock buyer and farmer of four miles northwest of this city, was fatally injured last Friday morning at 4 a.m., when he was struck by an automobile driven by a young Chicago lawyer, on Halsted St., near the stock yards in Chicago. He was then taken to the Evangelical hospital there, where he died at 6 a.m. Leo F. Radzienda, 31, was the driver of the automobile. Mr. King had taken a truckload of stock to Chicago early Friday and had gone to a nearby restaurant for breakfast. The accident occurred as he was crossing a street on his return. Surviving are the widow, Grace; two sons, Eldon and Donald King, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Foster of near here, and Bonnie, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben King of Ligonier; one brother, Robert King, of Marshall, Mich., and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Frick of Wawaka, Mrs. Josephine Peterson, of Elkhart and Mrs. Roy Carson of Wyoming. The body was brought to Albion Friday night by the Bonham Funeral Service. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 o'clock p.m. d.s.t. at the home, conducted by Rev. B.E. Hoover.
