Dead are Elden B. King, a farmer who resides four miles northwest of here, and Mrs. Margaruite Katheline Leiter, 26, of LaOtto. Mrs. Leiter's husband, Ray D., 24, was in critical condition tonight in Luckey Hospital, Wolf Lake. According to State Police, King was driving south and Leiter and his wife were traveling east, both "apparently at a good rate of speed." Leiter ran a stop sign at the gravel road intersection, known as Hawk's Corners. State Police said, and drove into the path of King's automobile. Both cars were demolished. King died of a fractured neck and a crushed chest. Mrs. Leiter died of a crushed skull. Leiter's injuries were reported as a compound fracture of the left leg, possible internal injuries, possible fractured jaw, and facial lacerations. He was still unconscious and in critical condition tonight. Leiter is a pinion cutter at the Salisbury Axle Works in Fort Wayne. State Police said the investigation of the accident would continue pending Leiter's recovery. They said there no obstructions to vision for either car at the intersection. Surviving King are his widow, Helen; two sons, Paul and Jerry, and two daughters, Janet and Mary Grace, at home; his mother, Mrs. Grace Neff; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Foster, Albion, and Mrs. David Britton, Ashtabula, Ohio, and a brother, Donald, West Lafayette.
