Personal History

Rosalind Cecilia Caroline Bingham[1][2] was born 26 February 1869[2] (registered in the district of Marylebone, co. London),[1] and baptized 20 April 1869, at the Church of St Luke, Westminster, co. Middlesex, England.[2] After her marriage to the Marquess of Hamilton, she was styled Marchioness of Hamilton. Upon her husband's succession to the Dukedom in 1913, she was titled Duchess of Abercorn.

On 1 January 1936,[5] the Duchess was appointed by King George V to be a Dame Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE).

Death and Probate

The Duchess of Abercorn died 18 January 1958 at her home in Westminster, co. London[4] (registered in the district of City of Westminster).[3]

On 28 April 1958,[4] in London, administration (with will) was granted to her son James Edward, Duke of Abercorn, the attorney of her second son Lord Claud David Hamilton; effects were in the amount of £5363 4s 7d.
