    Rosa Sager Snapp knew very little about her family. She was orphaned at age five. She remembered living on the banks of the wabash river.

    Her mother was French Canadian and was married more than once. Rose had a half sister about two years older than she. The girls were adopted or taken by different people when their mother died. They never saw one another again. The sister's benefactor's name was Clark. Rose's foster family name was Brewer. Rose called Mrs. Brewer Aunt Becky, she was mean and had a vile temper.

    Aunt Becky first husband died and she married Uncle Will Van Kirk. He as a kind and gentle man. He used to visit William and Rose after they married.

    The only relatives that Rose Snapp could remember were second cousins named Frenk Shew and his sister Lily.

    Will Van Kirk Married Nell after after Aunt Becky died. The Van Kirks then moved to Momence with William Snapp.

    When Rose Snapp was a teenager she did housework for the Freshettes in Momence. Aunt Becky's family also raised Aunt Jemina Metcalf.
