Utica Observer-Dispatch, 23 Aug 1987: ROLAND L. DURGEE Camden-- Roland L. Durgee, 67, of 2 Highland Ave., died Saturday at Rome City Hospital after being stricken at home. He was born December 17, 1919 in Camden NY, the son of Harry and Lillian Palmer Durgee. He was educated in Camden Schools. He was married to the former Lucy Barclay on February 7, 1941 in Camden. He was a die maker for the Camden Wire Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Pacific during World War II. He was an honorary member of the Camden Volunteer Fire Department, where he had been a member for 40 years, a former coach and manager for Camden Little League and Babe Ruth League, and a former ``End Man for the Camden Minstrel Show. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Camden. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, David Durgee of Utica and Gary Durgee of Syracuse; one brother, Zane Durgee of Rome; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday... from the Camden Funeral Home.. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden.
