Facts and Events
Robert Whalley was living at home in Kirkham in 1851 with his widowed father and several siblings. It's not known when he emigrated to Australia. Robert married Lucy Alice (Powell) Wallington in Victoria, Australia in 1876. Lucy and her son, had arrived in Victoria in Sep 1875 on the same ship that brought Robert's younger brother, William, and his family. Robert is probably the Robert Whalley whose fellmonger partnership with John Henry Bedford in Stratford, Victoria, was dissolved in 1879 [Victoria Government Gazette, #41, 10Apr1879, page 847] Robert was later listed as a skin buyer in the Australian Electoral Rolls (1903 and 1909 in Newmarket, Melbourne). Robert Whalley died in Kensington, Victoria, Australia in 1918, age 79 (Certificate 13310). His father was listed as Cuthbert Whalley and his mother as Mary Pickering--she was really Mary Mulcaster. So Robert immigrated to Australia between 1851 and 1875, but when did he arrive. References
