Facts and Events
[edit] Information on Robert McKeeRobert McKee of Back Creek, was born circa 1738 in Ireland, and died Oct. 16, 1800 on Timber Ridge. His first wife, and mother of his children, was named Elizabeth (some say her surname was Ferguson, unsourced). She was born circa 1740 and died March 15, 1790. In 1775, they bought 414 acres in the Isaac Creek watershed adjoining lands that had been surveyed for Mercer Beeson and John Rout. Previous owners of the McKee farm were Joseph and Rachel (Bull) Lupton. The Luptons received 'fortyfive pounds current money of Virginia' for the 414 acres. After Elizabeth's death, Robert married second to Susannah (Harris) Dalby, Jan. 23, 1793. They were married by the Rev. Alexander Ba!main, Episcopal rector in Winchester. Susannah was the widow of Richard Dalby, and mother to numerous Dalby children in Back Creek Valley.
