Obituary of Robert Lawson; Rock Island Argus, Wednesday June 30, 1984. [BU-IL 10]. “Robert Lawson Robert H. Lawson, 59, of 4520 24th Ave., Rock Island, died yesterday at Franciscan Medican Center, Rock island. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Dr. William D. Mullen, minister of visitation at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, will officiate, and burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the above church. Pallbearers will be William Ingold, Jay Schaaf, Frank Youngquist, Ted Freland, Robert Eagle and John Lewarne. Mr. Lawson was born Jan. 14, 1925, in Moline, the son of Hugh J. and Maude A. Burch Lawson. He was a graduate of Augustana College. He married Joan Kell June 5, 1949, in Rock Island. She died in 1975. He had been employed by J.I. Case and later by Bituminous Casualty Co., and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1960, after which he went into a private law practice. Mr. Lawson was a member of the above church, Rock Island Lodge 980, BPOE, the Rock Island Optimist Club, and the Illinois and Rock Island County Bar Association. He was also a supervisor of South Rock Island Township and a Republican precinct committeeman. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Linda Christine Champion of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Cassandra Jo Geddes of Deerefield. Ill; two granddaughters; and his mother in Rock Island.” In 1969 lived at 4520 24th Ave, RI.
