Joan died intestate; probate records show that she left an estate of $26,000, most of it half the value of their house; she had $15,000 in life insurance with Bob as beneficiary [BU-IL 59]. “Mrs. Lawson of Rock Island is taken by death Funeral services for Mrs. Robert H. Lawson, 4520 24th Ave., Rock Island, who died at 12:30 yesterday afternoon in her home following an extended illness, will be held at 9 a.m.tomorrow at the Wheelan Funeral Home, with the rev. Bruce Allison, co-pastor of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be rom 7 to 9 tonight. Mrs. Lawson, the former Joan Kell, was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Davenport, a daughter of Ray and Josephine Kell. She attended Davenport schools and was graduated from Augustana College. She did graduate study at Illinois State University, Normal. She had been a resident of Rock Island since her marriage to Robert H. Lawson in the Augustana Seminary Chapel, Rock Island, on June 5, 1949. Mrs. Lawson was a teacher for 10 years in the Physical Handicapped room at Eugene Fields School, Rock Island, until 1971. She was a member of the Rock Island, Illinois and National Education Association. Surviving are the widower, her mother, Mrs. Joesphine Kell, Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Linda) Champion, of Ship Bottom, N.J. and Miss Cassandra Lawson, at home; and two half-brothers, Richard and Tom Kell, both in California.
