  10. "Robert Dail `R.D.' Hutchinson Oct. 7, 1905 - Aug. 18, 2001-- RobertDail "R.D." Hutchinson died Saturday, Aug. 18, in Lethbridge, Alberta,Canada. He was a former Corvallis resident often known as "R.D." and"Dail." He was 95. He was born in Pierson, Iowa, and grew up inPayette, Idaho. He graduated from Oregon State Agricultural College,now Oregon State University, in 1928 with a bachelors degree inforestry, after partially paying his way through college by trapping forfurs. In 1930, Dail married Helen Tooze and moved to Warner, about 40miles from Lethbridge in southern Alberta, to begin farming. Helen diedin 1933. In 1935, he married Mary Louise Santa of Milk River, and theymoved to their farm, 10 miles east of Warner, Alberta where they farmeduntil retiring in 1947. They moved to Corvallis in 1948. They raisedand schooled their children in Oregon, many of them through college andmaster's degrees. The couple returned to Lethbridge permanently in 1975.While Dail managed the family farms, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Heand Mary traveled extensively. They played duplicate bridge and soonbecame Life Masters, and he ranked in the top 10 players in Canada atone time. Survivors include his sons, Alan Clark Hutchinson ofCorvallis and Gregory Lee Hutchinson of Warner; daughters, Anne LouiseFish of Portland, Jean Shirley Hutchinson of Lethbridge and NancyHutchinson Vanclef of Palo Alto, Calif.; daughter-in-law Shirley MaeHutchinson of Corvallis; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; andmany nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; andson, Robert Dail Hutchinson Jr. A funeral service was held Tuesday,Aug. 21, at Martin Bros. Riverview Chapel in Lethbridge, with pastorBrian McGee officiating. Interment was in Warner Cemetery. Memorialdonations may be made to Benton County CASA (Court-Appointed SpecialAdvocates) at 301 S.W. Fourth St., Corvallis, OR 97333." -sent to me byBettye source not given
