Obituary from The Kansas City Times, Friday December 18, 1970: Robert M. Flanagan - Robert M. Flanagan, 74, of Houston, formerly of Kansas City, died yesterday at the home. Mr. Flanagan was born in Unionville, Mo., and had lived here 11 years before he moved to Texas. Mr. Flanagan was a Catholic. He was in the motor car sales business. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Texas Automobile Dealers association. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Angela Flanagan, of the home; two sons, John R. Flanagan 700 East Meyer Boulevard, and James D. Flanagan, Temple Tex.; six daughters, Mrs. Helen DeWeese, Topeka; Mrs. Betty Jane Reynolds, 4602 West Eighty-second terrace, Overland Park; Mrs. Patricia Zoch, Austin, Tex.; Mrs. Mary Alice Cummins, Houston; Mrs. Nancy Carlton, Spring, Tex., and Mrs. Judy Seals, Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Jess White, Minneapolis and Mrs. Mary Selleck, Salinas, Calif.; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services and burial will be held Saturday in Houston. Flanagan died Thursday in Medical Arts Hospital where he was taken following a heart attack in his office. He had been with DeMontrond for 11 years and in the automobile business for 40 years. Flanagan was born in Unionville, Mo., on Jan. 30, 1896. He was married to Angeline Mary Schultz in Kansas City, Mo., in 1916, she survives. He began his career with Chrysler Corp. at the factory in Detroit and later transferred to General Motors dealers. Coming to Houston in 1943 with the Al Parker Co. For years the family home was at 42 Knipp Rd. Earlier this year the family moved to 25607 Timberlane in Spring, where Flanagan was a member of St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church. Also he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are two sons, John Robert of Kansas City and James D. Flanagan of Temple, and six daughters; Mrs. John L. Cummins and Mrs. D. Seals, both of Houston; Mrs. R. O. DeWeese of Topeka, Kan., Mrs. H. E. Reynolds of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Monroe Zoch of Austin and Mrs. Ken Carlton of Spring. There are 25 grand children and five great-grandchildren. The Rev. Gene Francis, pastor of St. Edward's Church, will lead recitation of the Rosary in the Settegast-Kopf chapel, 3320 Kirby Dr., at 7:30 tonight. Burial will be in Forest Park Westheimer.
