Uncle Bob Edmondson Suddenly Dies While Talking With Friends

Robert Edmondson, better known as Uncle Bob Edmondson, of Gravois Mills, died suddenly last Sunday morning. He was enjoying the best of health and was standing in Washburn's store talking to a party of friends when he was seen to totter and fall suddenly. He died before he could be raised from the floor. Uncle Bob was widely known throughout Morgan County and universally respected. He came to Morgan County from Virginia in 1869 and during all the eventful years since then he has done his full share toward the upbuilding of the county. He was a man of intellect and ability, though retiring and unassuming. He was a friend to the afflicted, the needy and distressed and his three score and five years are filled with countless deeds of love and charity and known only to Him who judges all. He has been in the employ of John Washburn, the Gravois Mills merchant, for the past ten years in the capacity of book-keeper and clerk. His six surviving children are Mrs. John Mayfield, Miss Mollie, James and Thomas, all of Morgan, David of Texas, and Buchanan of California. The funeral occurred at Hopewell on Monday and was largely attended.
