He was taken to a Syracuse hospital for treatment... Durgan and Frances Hall met with a serious accident Saturday night, in Williamstown, when their car left the road and hit a pole with considerable force. Frances lost several teeth, had a bad cut on her face which required a number of stitches. She is a patient in a Rome hospital, and the extent of her injuries are not as yet known. Robert received chest and other body injuries. They are expected to have x-rays to determine the extent of their injuries. The car was badly damaged. We do hope for France and Bob a quick recovery. Pulaski Democrat, 22 Oct 1942: RICARD-- Robert Durgan was in Syracuse Friday to be inducted into the Army service... in two weeks will report to Fort Niagara. Pulaski Democrat, 31 Oct 1968: AREA MAN SHOOTS SELF ACCIDENTALLY Robert Durgan of R.D. 1, Altmar, is in Rome City Hospital where he underwent surgery Wednesday morning for wounds in the upper left leg that he suffered when an automatic shotgun he was allegedly cleaning discharged accidentally. The accident occurred late Tuesday evening, but Durgan did not seek aid until about 3 a. m. Wednesday when he made his way to the home of his brother, Ernest Durgan. Troopers Doyle and Rindos with B.C.I. Investigator Nellis investigated the accidental shooting. Utica Daily Press, 27 Aug 1973: MRS. ROBERT DURIGAN, 50, DIES; Besides her husband, she leaves ... "Cy" Durgan, 60, of County Route 30, Surviving are ... a brother, Robert; [edit] ========================================Pulaski Democrat, 11 Feb 1985: ROBERT J. DURGAN Robert J. Durgan aged 63 of Kasoag Lake, Altmar died January 24, 1985 at the Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton. Born January 4, 1922 at Parish, he was the son of George and Mary Coger Durgan. He attended Parish High School. He married Frances I. Hall, February 17, 1942. She died in 1972. He was a World War II veteran and served in the army from 1942 until 1945. Mr. Durgan was a member of Operating Engineers Local 544, Syracuse, retiring in 1982. He was also a member of the VFW Constantia and Williamstown American Legion Post. Survivors include two sons, Gary of Altmar and Bruce of Williamstown; three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Jean) Britton of Williamstown, Mrs. Frank (Kathy) Muir of Altmar and Mrs. Edward (Carol) McCarty of Fulton; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Roser of Ricard; seventeen grandchildren.... Funeral services were held January 28 at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski with Rev. Adelbert Edwards officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Williamstown. References
