In the 1920 census, Robert and his brother Roger were living with their widowed mother at their grandparents household in Nutley, Essex Co., New Jersey.

 In the 1930 census, Robert and Roger were living with their uncle William Fitting in Nutley at 233 Whitford Ave. Robert is 17, born New Jersey (parents New Jersey [?]).  He is working as a clerk in a typewriter co.
 According to Paul Fitting's family history notes, Robert, known as Bob, married Natalie Beers and had two children: Alan and Gail.
 There is an SSDI record for Natalie B. Dolan, b. 10 Aug 1914, died Apr 1998 in Lansdale, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania.
