  Robert Andrews Conkling, Jr., son of Robert and Emma (Coast) Conkling was born on 3 August 1894 in New York. The family lived in Olean (Cataragus Co)New York. The 1920 census shows Robert still living with his parents. According to his obituary he graduated from Andover Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and was a member of the Yale class of 1919. He married Catherine Luther Holmes, daughter of  Mark and Jessie (Luther) Holmes on 28 November 1928 in Olean. Robert was an oil and gas producer in Olean and in Kansas. Catherine died on 12 September 1974. In 1978 Robert married Mary Day. According to his obituary he left seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two nephews. Robert died on 31 May 1983 in Olean.
